According to the brand, the global demand for cashmere has led to the overgrazing of goats in Mongolia, which has unfortunately turned what was once grasslands into arid deserts. That’s why Reformation decided to combat this problem by using recycled cashmere instead.
The brand’s new 90/10 collection is made from 90% recycled cashmere and 10% virgin cashmere, hence the name apt 90/10.
Using this 90/10 blend of recycled and virgin cashmere means Reformation can create its collection using 80% less water and 87% less carbon than conventional cashmere collections. Pretty impressive to say the least.
Of course, the brand is aware that it’s not perfect and there’s still a long way to go, however, it’s a big step forward in Reformation’s goal of striving to become a climate-friendly company. positive by 2025.
Given that the collection is made up of sweaters, cardigans and knit dresses, this launch couldn’t have been better timed.
