Chuchuyimpang Baptist Church (CBC) Women’s Department held a handicraft and knitting and weaving training session in Chuchuyimpang Village, Mokokchung on October 24.

The training was conducted with the aim of sensitizing young people to the preservation of traditional crafts, traditional weaving and weaving. It also aimed to make young people aware that learning these skills will not only help them learn about culture and traditions, but will also contribute to their livelihood.

Three sessions of the training were given in 2022 as part of the resolution of the women’s department of Radio-Canada to teach young people to knit and do crafts. The initial training took place on April 16, the second on August 19 and the last session was on Monday.

The resource persons for the handicraft training were Kazünungsang and Limakumzük while for knitting were members of the women’s department. A competition between the participants was also organized using the products they created during the training sessions.

During a brief closing ceremony, Rev. I Wati Imsong, Pastor, CBC, gave a short exhortation and S. Amongla, Associate Pastor (Women), CBC presented the awards. The competition took place in the categories of the chicken coop and the basketry competition for the boys and the hat and socks competition for the girls.
