In 2005, when Garima Agarwal wanted to furnish her children’s bedrooms, she could not find anything specially designed for children on the Indian market. That’s when she decided to put her design background to good use and take matters into her own hands. She continued to design them herself and not only did a great job, but it also inspired her to start her own company, Peekaboo Patterns, which offered designer curtains for children’s rooms.

But over the years, what started as a one-product brand has now grown into one of the leading children’s brands in Chennai, with two physical stores, an extensive workshop and a nationwide online presence. His store, Peekaboo Interiors, is India’s first show home for children with seven experiential rooms for children of different ages.

“Children’s rooms require special attention compared to other spaces because it is the most dynamic space in the house and requires flexibility. Non-toxic paint, buildable furniture, child-friendly upholstery materials are some key aspects to keep in mind when designing,” says Agarwal.

Her goal is to consciously select decorative elements and colors that resonate with children and complement the room in a balanced, aesthetic and ergonomic way.

The goal, she says, is to transform ordinary spaces into kid-friendly havens that are fun and functional, while being a one-stop-shop for all things ethical and sustainable. “Every space we design is powered by certified knowledge of mindful parenting and color psychology,” she adds.

Her latest venture is a clothing line, “Bootiful,” which offers high-quality smart casual wear for kids ages 2-10. These are made in their factory which has over 50 years of experience in making garments for global luxury. fashion labels.

For the future, Agarwal has ambitious plans. “We plan to strategically expand our manufacturing capacity by the beginning of next year and aim to conquer the international market widely with more investment by 2023,” she concluded. Sounds like a good building plan to grow!
