Before you begin, there are a few materials you’ll want to have on hand. Of course, you will need some gold metal foil. You can get some that are made of real gold, but the imitation is much cheaper and looks just like the real thing. If you prefer to just paint it, you can also use liquid sheet. To get the sheet to stick to your chosen surface, you will also need some sort of adhesive. The best thing to use is a special foil stamping adhesive called sizing.
To finish your piece, you will need a few paint brushes to dust off the excess gilding. (Be sure to save those precious spots for future projects, too.) And finally, you’ll also need a metal foil sealant to prevent your piece from tarnishing. You can also get all the necessary materials in one gold foil kit.
