When you're ready to Build Your Own sweater this chart will help you calculate the yardage requirements. We have included a sample calculation and some of our thoughts below. Add up all the options for your size.
Can't decide on whether to round up to an extra ball? The yarns we offer have pretty consistent dye lots so you have to decide if you want to order an extra ball just in case. If you run out we will ship the extra ball with free shipping.
The chart below includes 'to fit' and refers to actual body measurements. The sweater is knit with standard ease (1.5" for small up to 2.5" for large).
Pima Tencel: 109 yds
Eden Bamboo: 109 yds (not a lot of give - round up)
Venezia: 219 (100 gm skein) (that gives it the same cost per yard as the Eden!)
Silky Waikiki Blend: Order about one mohair for every two Waikiki balls.
Waikiki: 105 (not a lot of give - round up)
Kid Seta: 230 yards
Kid Merino: 240 yards

Bolero and Shrunken Cardi

no reason you can't knit yours a bit longer. Just
add another ball or two of yarn.

Calculation:
Size 36, bolero body, 3/4 sleeve, i-cord edge with a hook & eye closure
345 + 260 + 32 + 0 = 637
Pima Tencel and Eden divide by 109 = 5.85 balls. I would order an extra ball for the Eden.
Venezia: divide by 219 = 2.9 skeins. Pretty close. This yarn is so fabulous I would order the extra but you could shorten the sleeves a bit or use a similar gauge stash yarn for the i-cord.
Waikiki: divide by 105 = 6.1 balls so order 7 balls with 3 balls of the mohair.
